How To Apply For Financial Aid

The financial aid process can take up to eight weeks to complete and students must reapply each year.

Step 1: Apply for your Federal PIN

U.S. Department of Education's PIN Site

To expedite the process, you should apply for a federal PIN. This number can be used throughout your college education. If you are a dependent student one of your parents should apply for a PIN, also. Wait to receive your PIN before completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). If you are male between the ages of 18 and 25, you must have registered for the selective service in order to receive Financial Aid. Register for selective service online by going to the Selective Service System web page. You may also register for selective service on the FAFSA.

Step 2: Complete the online Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

US Department of Education's FAFSA Site

You must complete a new FAFSA each year. PTC's Title IV code is 005535. Your name and social security number must be reported just as they appear on your Social Security card or it will cause delays.

Step 3: Complete a Pine Technical College Financial Aid Application and submit it to the Financial Aid Office.

Step 4: Turn in all documents required by Pine Technical College

Make sure that all documents are signed by you, your spouse, and parents, if applicable. If you are selected for verification, additional documents will be needed. This is the primary cause of delays in the financial aid process. All requested documents should be submitted as soon as possible in order to expedite your application.

Step 5: Receive Your Award Letter

Once all of your forms have been received and your application is complete, you will receive an Award Letter from Pine Technical College. Your award letter will tell you what types of funds you are eligible for and the amount you are eligible for at your enrollment level. If will also contain information on securing a Stafford loan.

Student Aid Report

The Student Aid Report (SAR) can be accessed approximately two weeks after you electronically filed. Go to www.fafsa.ed.gov and select “print student aid report”. If you apply with a paper FAFSA, your SAR will be mailed to you.

All financial aid documents are available in the Admissions/Financial Aid Office.
