Individual Career Counseling
Individual Career Counseling is available for students and prospective students. If you are unsure about your career direction, make an appointment to meet with our counselor. Career assessments may be utilized as a starting point for your exploration of different careers.
If you are undecided about your career direction, meet with our counselor for help with career decisions. Career assessments can provide a starting point for discussion about possible career options. You may wish to take one or both of those offered online:
--The Strong Interest Inventory (SII) compares your interests with those of people working in a broad range of occupations.
--The Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) measures personal preferences that influence your learning and work style. Understanding your style can improve your education and career planning, performance, and satisfaction.
Take the online career assessments
--Meet with your Counselor to determine which assessment(s) to take and get the login.
--Pay the testing fee at the Business Office (MBTI=$14.95; SII=$9.95)
--Take the assessment!
--Bring the receipt to Student Affairs and set up an appointment with the counselor for an interpretation of your results.
Each semester, Pine Technical College offers a one-credits Career Exploration course -- CRDV 1200, which is designed to help students explore both career and educational options. Using a variety of career planning resources, students learn about the world of work, and assess their unique strengths, interests, values and personalty. In addition, students develop a career plan that integrates their knowledge of self and the global work world with the career decision-making process.
