Subject: Definition of General Education

Purpose:
To define what constitutes general education at Pine Technical College

Policy:
Faculty, Academic Affairs and Standards Council, and the CAO will work together to ensure that all courses in the liberal arts and sciences meet the definition of general education as defined by Higher Learning Commission.

General education is intended to develop the knowledge and intellectual concepts, skills, and attitudes that the faculty believe every educated person should possess.

Responsibilities:
All faculty, in consultation with the Academic Affairs and Standards Council, and the CAO , are responsible for ensuring that all courses in the liberal arts and sciences meet this definition. Courses are then brought forward to the Academic Affairs and Standards Council for review and approval. Final approval rests with the CAO.

Dissemination:
This policy is distributed to all faculty and staff via the campus intranet.
