Waking

Alarm sounds, singing boogie-woogie

wakes her, reaching she soundly

smacks it, trying to catch eight more

minutes sleep, pleasing as she dreamily

dozes off, floundering between two worlds.

Alarm sounds, singing country western

woos him, moving he kindly

kisses her, revealing his vulnerability

ventures on, nestling as he gently

gestures love, expressing affection without words.

Alarm sounds, singing rock-n-roll

rouses her, ruffling she swiftly

swats it, turning her back to him

hates him, maneuvering out of bed quickly

quiets thought, trembling over the wrongs.

Alarm sounds, singing rapping woes

wills him, maligning himself abundantly

abhors himself, fumbling with his clothing

chaos abounds, seeking peace he sheepishly

shambles out, touching the small of her back, wonders.
