Student Loans

Student loans can be an important source of funds to a college student. Different loans have different requirements and benefits.

StudentLoans.gov -- This site is a student's source for information from the U.S. Department of Education and details how to manage student loans.

Direct Loans for Students

Direct Student Loans are either subsidized or unsubsidized. A student may receive a subsidized loan and an unsubsidized loan for the same enrollment period. Once the student's financial aid application is complete, a student will receive a financial aid award letter. The award letter will show a student his or her direct loan eligibility.

Two steps to apply for federal direct loans:

1. Go to Pine Technical College's E-Services.
--Log-in with your PTC username and password.
--Click Financial Aid in the left-hand column.
--Click Loans.
--Instructions will direct you to complete Entrance Counseling, Master Promissory Note, and requesting of loan funds.

If you need additional assistance completing the loan process, here is a PowerPoint explaining the process.

Exit Counseling

Complete Direct Loan Exit Counseling. This is required for borrowers who have dropped below six credits or will be graduating. By completing this session, borrowers will gain a better understanding of the Direct Loan repayment process.
