Grants:

Child Care Resource & Referral annually receives a limited amount of funding to provide grants to child care providers.

We offer one round of grants per year, with specific deadlines for application submittal.

Our next grant round begins September 1, 2009. Applications will be accepted until September 25, 2009. Applications must be postmarked on or before 9/25/09.

To receive a grant application, please visit the Minnesota State Registry for Education and Meaningful Supports website at www.mnstreams.org . You will need an ID & Password set up for you. Many individuals already have an ID & Password assigned. Please call 1-800-890-5399 to receive your information. Please do not create your own profile!

Or you can receive an application by entering into the correct Region below. (Please make sure you are accessing the correct application. Funding may vary per Region) Grants will be available again in September 2010.

Start up grants and emergency grants are on-going or until our annual funding has been depleted.

GRANT TYPES:

Learning Environment:

The learning environment is the arrangement of the classroom or home setting that sets the stage for teaching and learning.  It includes the physical environment, including interest areas and establishing daily routines and schedules.

Health and Safety
All equipment should meet recognized safety standards.

Caring for our Children:  National Health and Safety Performance Standards: Guidelines for Out-of-Home Child Care Program, 2nd Edition, a publication of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Public Health Association, lists safety standards, procedures and resources for child car providers.  This publication is available through the National Resource Center for Health and Safety in Child Care and Early Education in online and print versions at http://nrc.uchsc.edu/CFOC/index.html. 

Professional Development:
Professional development consists of training and education combined with quality professional experience that leads to increased knowledge and high quality practice. 

Start-up Grants:
These funds are available to assist with the costs associated with start-up for newly licensed or soon to be licensed child care providers/programs. Grants are limited to items and services required by licensing or the Fire Marshal. 

Emergency Grants:
These grants are to assist child care providers who are experiencing an emergency that jeopardizes their immediate ability to provide services, or is experiencing a situation that affects the health and safety of children in care. 

Family, Friends and Neighbors (FFN) Incentive Grants:
This grant program is available through a separate application process to improve the quality of care in family, friends and neighbors child care settings. Contact your Regional Coordinator for more information. (Regional Coordinator information on directory link)

Teach Grants:
TEACH (Teacher Education and Compensation Helps) is a scholarship program that helps child care providers earn a college degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development. The scholarship pays for a large portion of college tuition and books and also provides assistance with transportation and substitution costs. Successful scholarship recipients also qualify for a pay raise or bonus upon completion of their scholarship contract. REETAIN Grants:
R.E.E.T.A.I.N (Retaining Early Educators Through Attaining Incentives Now) is a workforce retention program that strives to reduce the turnover rates among child care providers who work with young children. Grant recipients are free to use grant dollars as they choose. Grant dollars are considered additional salary and may be used to pay bills, reinvest in your in your child care setting, or cover personal expenses.
