Authorities:
Purpose:
The purpose of this policy and procedure is to establish a system for conducting and receiving credit courses via interactive television (ITV). 

Policy:
The CAO and the CSAO will work with program faculty and the regional consortium directors to establish standards and procedures for the delivery of ITV courses.

 Procedure for conducting courses:

Scheduling:

 

ECMECC:

  1. CAO meets with faculty to determine what courses they are interested in offering ITV
  2. CAO and CSAO meet in February with distance education contacts to propose schedule for upcoming academic year
  3. CAO notifies admin assistant and ITV coordinator of proposed schedule
  4. CAO assigns course instruction to faculty
  5. Academic admin assistant forwards the scheduled class info to the ITV coordinator for room assignment
  6. Academic admin assistant schedules the courses in ISRS. Each site will be an individual section for billing and class list purposes.
  7. ITV coordinator prepares grid of all distance ed courses for upcoming academic year and distributes to: CAO, CSAO and academic admin asst who saves the grid on the "S" drive

MSET/Little Crow/CMDLN/NEET:

  1. CAO confers with faculty to determine need to send or receive ITV courses
  2. CAO contacts other campuses to collaborate on course delivery
  3. CAO initiates appropriate contracts and forwards to academic admin assistant and ITV coordinator
  4. Academic admin assistant forwards the scheduled class info to the ITV coordinator for room assignment
  5. Academic admin assistant schedules the course(s) in ISRS
  6. ITV coordinator includes the courses in the distance ed course grid and saves to the "S" drive
  7. CAO follows up on receipt of completed contracts, and admin asst distributes copies to business office and CSAO.

 

Applications:

 

ECMECC:

  1. Student Services prepares applications(registrations) and grid of course id info  the third week of August and gives to ITV facilitators at ITV meeting the last week of August
  2. ITV coordinator and Student Services admin asst get textbooks ready for distribution at ITV meeting
  3. ITV instructors guide registration process the first day of class – box for “ethnicity” must be checked
  4. ITV site facilitators send completed registration forms to instructors and instructors forward to Student Service admin assistant within the first seven (7) days of class
  5. Student Services admin assistant enters registrations by each site's individual section into ISRS within one week of receipt
  6. ITV instructors sign add/drop/withdraw forms when appropriate and send to Student Services to be processed

MSET/Little Crow:

  1. Student Services prepares applications and mails to ITV facilitators the third week of August.
  2. MSET’s textbooks are sent to MSET consortium coordinator for distribution the third week of August
  3. ASL textbooks are distributed by ASL faculty
  4. Student Services prepares grid of course id info and gives to on campus ITV instructors the last week in August
  5. Registration info same as above (#’s 3 through 6)

CMDLN:

  1. Student completes home campus application
  2. Enrollment and FYE status determined by guidelines of contract

 

Faculty responsibility:

  1. Responsible for ordering textbooks for all courses at ITV sites – textbooks are charged to ECMECC cost center.  Cost center manager advised so expense can be included in budget
  2. Meet with CSAO and ITV coordinator the week before classes start to review registration procedure and discuss technology issues, grading procedures, individual sections per site, etc.
  3. Guides completion of application the first day of class for all ECMECC sites
  4. Follows-up on the return of completed applications – due within the first seven days of class
  5. Verify class list weekly against those attending class and initiates add/drop/withdraw form
  6. Sends completed forms to Student Services for processing
  7. Send mid-term grades to counselors at ITV sites
  8. Keep CAO and CSAO up-to-date with any technology concerns

 

Business Office responsibility:

  1. Business Office responsible for all distance education billing

 

Procedure for receiving courses:

  1. Procedure for scheduling, applications, faculty and business office responsibilities should be delineated in the intra-agency agreement/contract for instruction document.

 

Responsibilities:
Responsibility for the Credit Courses delivered ITV is as indicated in the policy and procedure sections above.

 Dissemination:

This policy will be disseminated via the campus intranet or website.
