Management of Information Systems
Program Overview
The Associate of Science (AS) degree in Management of Information Systems will prepare individuals to provide and manage data systems and related facilities for processing and retrieving internal business information; select systems and train personnel; and respond to external data requests.
Includes instruction in cost and accounting information systems, management control systems, personnel information systems, data storage and security, business systems networking, report preparation, computer facilities and equipment operation and maintenance, operator supervision and training, and management information systems policy and planning.
According to the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum, the general education components of the MIS program will transfer. The MIS-focused courses do not fall under the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum; however, the likelihood of transferability is strong.
Pine Technical College has created several articulation agreements with other four-year colleges in the MIS program. An articulation agreement is a guarantee between a two-year and four-year college that complete transfer of the two-year degree into a four-year program will occur.
